Grandma's German Apple

3 Eggs

1/2 Teaspoon Salt
|
2 Cups Flour
|
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
|
2 Cups Sugar
|
2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
|
1 Cup Salad Oil
|
16 Ounces Cream Cheese
|
1 Cup Walnuts, Chopped
|
2 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
|
4 Cups Apples, Thinly Sliced
|
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
|
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
|
1 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
|
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Do not use a mixer!
Combine the eggs, flour, sugar, oil, nuts, apples, soda, salt, 1 teaspoon
vanilla, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Mix the cake ingredients using a spoon. The batter will be stiff.
Spread batter into a 13x9 pan. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Cool.
Mix the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Spread over cake.
Serve.
Variation: Serve cake warm with cool whip or ice cream instead of frosting.
